iConference 2013 | Research Paper Development Roundtable

NOTE: The Research Paper Development Roundtable is now CLOSED to submissions.

This new iConference submission track is for researchers developing manuscripts for submission as journal articles. The goals of this track are to provide a forum for interactive development of research papers, enable a discussion of current research ideas, provide a clear path to journal publication, and increase collaboration opportunities for junior faculty. Papers reporting work in progress and late breaking research are welcome.

Review Process: Authors submit an extended abstract (300-500 words) describing the paper idea by August 1, 2012. Copy should be double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point font, no title page. Submission will be in PDF format. Abstracts will be reviewed and evaluated by a group of iSchool Associate Deans for Research and accepted abstracts will be organized into the conference program. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified of acceptance by early October and then will develop a full draft paper to be submitted approximately 5 weeks prior to the conference (January 7, 2013). All conference attendees will be able to view the extended abstract.

At the conference: The roundtable sessions will be discussion-oriented events with attendees and participants constructively engaging in discussions of each of the papers. Each author will be assigned to a roundtable session that will include 3-4 other authors. One or more discussants will be assigned to each group and will prepare a short summary and constructive critique to start discussion on each paper. Each author will review the other papers in the group in advance to offer constructive advice for further developing the paper.
